Jacqueline du Pré Charity Concert

The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain has been supporting musicians who are in need since 1738. They are an incredible organisation and I am privileged to have worked with them for many years. They are celebrating the 22nd Annual Jacqueline du Pré Charity Concert on Tuesday 28 March 2017 at 7.45pm at Wigmore Hall. Steven Isserlis and Soloists of the Kronberg Academy will be performing and it will be a wonderful evening. Tickets are available and can be booked by clicking here.

Oxford May Music Festival

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Oxford May Music Festival. This incredible festival presents scientific lectures and musical concerts side by side and allows exploration of the intertwined relationship of these worlds.

I am honoured to be speaking at this years festival on 28 April at 17.30 on ‘Musicians’ brains are different’. Following my lecture at 20.00 there will be a Schubert Gala performed by the Myrthen Ensemble.

For many years I have been passionate about combining my two loves: music and medicine. I believe that interactions of art and science are what makes us human and that crossing and integration of the two disciplines is essential.

The clip below gives more information on the festival – please come along for some or all of it if you can.

Musicians Dystonia is difficult to treat. Victor Candia proposes a treatment option called Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and at London Hand Therapy we use this in combination with other approaches within therapy and home exercise programmes.

The full article can be read here, and further discussions about this approach are found within many of the papers on the Publications page of the LHT website.
